30/03/2012 - El Tejar, as a member of this initiative, launches a call for the fourth edition of the Strengthening Communities Program aimed at local organization networks of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Strengthening Communities is an initiative of private social investment that gathers different donor companies and foundations in pursuit of the promotion of local development. The program has been managed since 2005 by Fundación Emprendimientos Rurales Los Grobo (Los Grobo Rural Undertakings Foundation), its members being Banco Galicia, IBM, El Tejar, Fundación MAPFRE, Los Grobo Agropecuaria, Fundación Deloitte, Fundación Andreani, Fundación YPF, Fundación Nextel, Fundación Standard Bank, Telecom and AVIS Argentina. Besides, it has the support of Fundación La Nación, Fundación Noble and the Universidad Católica Argentina.

Strengthening Communities proposes a learning path to; taking as a start point the capacities existing in each community, build long-term developing strategies. This promotes the generation of social capital in the territory creating and environment where the organizations can have more strength in social concerns.

The purpose of this call is to invite groups of local -either formal or informal- organizations to be part of a process of expansion of capacities that allows them to plan and manage projects of social impact for the benefit of their communities. The project themes are open and must uphold a long-term sustainable community impact inclusive of the greatest number of local actors linked by the proposal.

It is an open call and the registration and proposals of ideas form (available in www.potenciar.org.ar) must be submitted before and up to May 28. The proposals meeting the program terms and conditions will be evaluated by a selection committee in charge of choosing the participants of the program. 

This program will allow networks to participate in a training process aimed at transforming ideas into social impact projects and to be able to obtain up to $50.000 for their implementation.

Since the program was launched, in 2005, Strengthening Communities funded 16 projects of educational, social and productive character in 15 localities of the Provinces of Buenos Aires and Santa Fe, engaging 82 local institutions and /or organizations and favoring more than 14.254 direct and 23.237 indirect beneficiaries.

During next April, the Foundation team will give a series of informative talks in different locations for those interested in taking part of the Project.
